New One Stop Website Allows Shoppers to Give To Charity as they Shop – and Opens Pop-up Boutique to Show You How
LONDON 07 October 2014: Today a store with a difference - where customers can give to charity as they shop for themselves and at no extra cost to them has popped up in London for one day only.
Landing in Bateman Street at 10am, yards from Oxford Street, the nation’s most famous high street, the Care2Save Boutique unveiling was met by shoppers hoping to catch a glimpse of glamorous shop assistant, Donna Air.
The boutique marks the revamp of Care2Save (www.care2save.co.uk), the only shopping website run by a registered charity (1151546) which gives 100% of the commission generated from purchases to charity - at no extra cost to the shopper.
Visitors to the Care2Save Boutique today are being offered a taster of the six million products available on the Care2Save website from over 2,000 high street retailers: from Topshop to Travelodge, Halfords to House of Fraser.
Every product in the Boutique has a price tag on so shoppers can clearly see how Care2Save works. So, for example, for an Expedia holiday costing £899, Expedia will give 3.5% commission (£31.46) to charity. Eighty per cent (£25.16) goes to a charity selected of your choice and the remaining 20 per cent (£6.29) goes to the Care2Save Charitable Trust to support hospice and palliative care. That’s how easy it is!
Celebrity store assistant Donna Air, greeted excited browsers as the Care2Save Boutique opened:
Donna Air: “This morning has been brilliant, it’s great to know there’s now a way to raise funds for your favourite charity just by shopping online! I’m a proud supporter of Macmillan Cancer Support, Race for Life, Sport Relief and Jeans for Genes and it’s amazing to think that I can continue to support all of them just by doing my shopping via Care2Save.co.uk where there are over 2,000 high street retailers to choose from – just click, shop and help change the world – what could be easier?”
Care2Save is the only shopping website through which 100% of the commission from each purchase is retained within the charity sector - making it the only website of its kind. The commission is split into two; 80 per cent goes to a registered charity of the shopper’s choice enabling them to help their chosen charity in the UK and the remaining 20 per cent goes to the Care2Save Charitable Trust, which supports hospice and palliative care in the UK and globally.
Andrea Fragata Ladeira, CEO of Care2Save said: “Shopping is one of the UK’s favourite pastimes and now through Care2Save people can shop with a conscience knowing that they are raising funds for their favourite charity as they do so. We created the Care2Save Boutique to show shoppers how easy it is to raise money for their favourite charities as they shop through our site.
Every sale made through Care2Save will support hospice and palliative care for adults and children across the UK and around the world. We are delighted to be launching during Hospice Care Week (6-12 October) because hospice care will touch all of our lives at some point; whether for ourselves or those close to us. Together through Care2Save we have the opportunity to transform the hospice sector and to raise significant sums for other charities in the process. We sincerely hope as many people as possible will make Care2Save their shopping website of choice for Christmas and beyond.”
Care2Save works with a host of high street names across every retail sector, including: ao.com, Bench, BHS, Boots, Currys, Debenhams, Disney Store, Early Learning Centre, EE, Expedia, feelunique, Furniture Village, Groupon, Halfords, Hotels.com. Care2Save is run by independent charity The Care2Save Charitable Trust. The idea for Care2Save was born out of the hospice movement and was the brainchild of the fundraising team at St Luke’s Hospice, Winsford, Cheshire who wanted to create a shopping portal that would benefit all the 233 hospices in the UK.
